It's Time For Jerry Jones To Step Aside as General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones needs to learn to think before he speaks. He continues to come off as someone who does not know the game of football anymore, and you do not want that from a team executive.
Jerry Jones continues to appear on his weekly radio spot with “Shan & RJ” in Dallas on 105.3 The Fan after last week’s meltdown on the hosts. He takes shots at not only the coach but also the roster construction but does not believe there is an issue with the team.
"There's ... some (problems) of execution, (and) some of the talent - I like our talent, but young talent has a few more mistakes associated with it than if you're dealing with a veteran player,'' Jones said.
The problem is that everyone except the general manager and owner saw this coming. Jerry Jones won’t fire Jerry Jones, General Manager. He believes his vision is working. And while the team was 12-3 the last couple of seasons, he must admit he messed up this off-season.
Throw in Jerry Jones's statement that Derrick Henry would not fit in with the Dallas Cowboys due to managing the salary cap, and it makes things worse.
However, he will never publicly admit that he messed up, and that is the issue. He should have fired himself a long time ago. But we know why that is going to happen.
Jerry Jones, the Cowboys' GM, wants the accolades and credit he thinks he deserves for bringing a Super Bowl to Dallas. Jones felt he did not get the credit he thought he deserved when Jimmy Johnson was the coach and general manager of the Cowboys in the late 1980s and early ‘90s.

Remember, Johnson constructed the Cowboys and won two Super Bowl Titles before he and Jones went their separate ways. Under Barry Switzer, Dallas won another Super Bow with Jimmy Johnson’s team and Jerry Jones in control.
But since 1995, the Cowboys have not made the NFC Championship and have significant holes in this lineup, not only on defense but also in the running back position.
The salary cap issue is a general manager's problem. He waited too long to sign Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb. That is their offense. There is no depth for the injuries that are occurring on the defence.
However, the Dallas Cowboys have been flawed for years, starting with their general manager. They need a new general manager, and until that happens, this team will continue to struggle.
It is time for Jerry Jones to step aside as the Cowboys' GM and let someone else right the ship. If there is a fear, just look at the WWE and see how Triple H runs the show, with Vince McMahon no longer running creative or calling the shots.
Everything will be just fine. Jerry Jones has to get back to just being the owner and get the right football people in there to bring championships back to America’s so-called team, the Dallas Cowboys.
