It Has Always Been on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets
One of the major headlines in the NFL on Tuesday was the New York Jets acquiring Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders. As Full Press Media and the Night Cap Recap told you, this would happen two weeks ago.
Appearing on his weekly spot on the Pat McAfee Show, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers tells McAfee, A.J. Hawk, and the rest of the fellas, “It’s Now on Us.”
So, what happened before the trade for Adams? It was not on you then. What about during the off-season (oh-wait, more on that in a minute), training camp, the start of the season, and allowing head coach Robert Saleh to take the fall for your poor play, Aaron Rodgers?
Now, Rodgers will not read or care what a local guy in New Jersey has to say about his play. He is too big time for that. However, his reputation is now on the line as being one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game.
If you look at some of the game's great quarterbacks, Joe Montana, Patrick Mahones, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and, of course, Tom Brady, they all put the work in to get better. What did this guy do?
Well, for one, they did not go on vacation to Cairo, Egypt, during MANDATORY MINI CAMPS. You know that Rodgers' timing is off with his receivers because they did not work on it in the off-season. That is why Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams did not understand how to read his routes.
How often have we heard about secret training sessions with Brady and his wide receivers at Brady’s house or another location to improve their timing? We didn’t hear anything about Rodgers and the Jets wide receivers. They just did things in practice because NOBODY plays in the preseason.

So it is everyone in this situation, not just the wide receivers. It is on Rodgers. He is looking like a 40-year-old out there. In back-to-back weeks, he has thrown a game-ending interception. Instead of taking ownership of the throw, he blames receivers for not understanding what he wants.
The ball to Williams at the end of the game was underthrown. Even if Williams does not slip, the Buffalo Bills cornerbacks had a chance to make a play on the ball. This is not a wide receiver problem. This is an Aaron Rodgers problem.
The Jets organization continues to cater to Rodgers. While he may not have been directly involved in the Saleh firing, Rodgers played a role in it. When the team owner, Woody Johnson, comes out and says he talked with Rodgers the night before Saleh got fired last Tuesday, everyone knows Rodgers said something to him.
Despite what Rodgers said in the media and to his friends on the McAfee show, he has yet to hold himself accountable for his actions. Coming into this season, Rodgers preached accountability. But what he really meant is that he is going to hold everyone else accountable except himself.
This is classic narcissistic and egotistical behaviour. Aaron Rodgers gets anything he wants. But that is on the owner, Woody Johnson. Rodgers now gets his running buddy from Green Bay, Davante Adams, to go with Allen Lazard.
You can believe this will help Wilson, but Wilson put up great numbers with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mike White. So he knows how to play the game. But Rodgers has a trust issue.
While the offense looked better, he must hold himself accountable for poor play. Because the way the New York Jets operate has always been on AARON RODGERS!!
