No Trade is Saving the Dallas Cowboys Season
If Jerry Jones thinks a trade will save the Dallas Cowboys' season, he has another thing coming.
Jones was asked by reporters following the loss on Sunday to the Atlanta Falcons if he could do something this week with the NFL Trade Deadline on Tuesday.
“We could, yes,” Jones said. “It takes two to tango, but we’ve got some things in the mail. We’re going to do everything we can at all times to improve this team, and in our judgement, if what you have to give up helps improve it, we'll do it.”
When you see the clip of Jerry Jones being interviewed, he has no words anymore on what is going on. He is clearly frustrated and can’t believe what he sees this season.
However, everyone saw this coming because the Dallas Cowboys did not make any moves in the offseason to improve. It is a complete 180-degree turn from a year ago for the Cowboys.
This team got more expensive and older this past offseason. And yes, the Cowboys are dealing with injuries; every team in the NFL does. But everyone saw this coming; even if you don’t cover the sport as a member of the “mainstream” media or just a team fan, the signs were there this team was not going to be good.

It starts at the top. Again, this is another dysfunctional team with problems that are not very good, but more on that at another time. But the Dallas Cowboys are flawed, and nothing they do will save their season, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on Monday.
“The magic solution is not walking through that door green no matter who they trade for. They're not making a deal big enough to get a trade done,” Schefter said. “That's going to save their season. The die is cast on what this team is right now. They're not going to go out and trade.”
The Dallas Cowboys have so many issues that one or two trades on Tuesday will not solve the problems.
“This team has got so many issues that one trade, two trades, three trades, which aren't going to happen, aren't going to fix this roster by the 4 pm eastern trade deadline Tuesday,” Schefter said.
There are too many holes to fill and not enough time to fill them.
And Jerry Jones needs to realize that maybe the season is lost, and he should be a seller, not a buyer, on Tuesday.
“I've had other teams wondering a lot. Well, maybe we should call the Dallas Cowboys to see if they were treating some of their players,” Schefter said. “Maybe we should check see if they would be willing to move on from Micah Parsons, which I don't think they would be, but those are the conversations that are going on more than who is Dallas going to land at the deadline that's going to help that run defense, that's going to help that run game that's going to turn around this season.”
But again, this all comes from the general manager. The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, is the general manager, and until he fires himself from that position, things will not change.
It is going to be a long season if you follow the Dallas Cowboys because it is going to get worse before it gets better.
