College Football Playoff Rankings: A Top Conference Could Be Out
The College Football Playoff Committee released its official rankings on Tuesday night. The playoff bracket and rankings changed slightly. The final standings and rankings will be released in a couple of weeks.
Each week, the narrative changes regarding the College Football Playoff. As Full Press Media has reported, this is the made-for-TV playoff, not the college football playoff. We saw early on the Big 10 and SEC dominance inside the bracket.
Last week, it was about Indiana and the Big 12 champion. Now, we are hearing that a three-loss Big 12 champion could be out. Could a three-loss SEC team make the playoffs? Does the ACC get three teams in? You have to love the drama that is college football and ESPN?
As Rowdy Roddy Piper used to say, “Just When You Think You Have All Answers, I Change the Question.” That is what the College Football Playoff Committee, aka ESPN, did on Tuesday night.
College Football Playoff Rankings, Nov. 26

All eyes are on the conference champions between the Mountain West, American, and Big 12. Suddenly, a three-loss Big 12 Champion could get out of this thing because if Tulane runs the table, they knock out one of those teams.
Remember the four highest-ranked conference champions of the Power 4; the American was always part of the Group of 5. There are so many scenarios for the Big 12 champion right now. However, it is not a given that Boise State makes the playoff by having to play UNLV.
The real change in these rankings will be after the results of Indiana and Ohio State, along with BYU and Arizona State. Why is the latter so important? With the rankings last week, all eyes will be on the committee and what they do with BYU.

Notre Dame seems to be a lock for the College Football playoffs. Who would have seen that coming after their Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois? Now, the real question is, can they close it out? If they lose to USC, they might be out of this thing.
The SEC could see Alabama and Ole Miss just miss out unless chaos happens. The winner of Texas and Texas A&M plays Georgia for the SEC Championship. Tennessee feels pretty safe they will get into the playoffs, too.
Two teams could get in, depending on what happens in the ACC. SMU has been so good in the ACC that even if they lose, they should get in.
Over in the Big Ten, it feels like Oregon will take on either Ohio State or Indiana. Both still have tough tests ahead, but the Ducks and Buckeyes are in this thing.
More questions than answers because the narrative keeps changing. The last weekend of the regular season is here, followed by a championship. There is still more chaos to come.
