College Football Playoff Rankings: What To Watch For
The College Football Playoff Comittee released their official rankings this past Tuesday. And as Full Press Media these rankings do not mean much because there is so much football still left to be played. While there is only a couple of weeks left there is still a lot to be determined.
Like week 1 of the official rankings, again who knows why they don’t do it from the start, you can see that the Big Ten and SEC are looking to have four teams each in the playoff. However, that could changed now that Georgia, who would have been first out will probably jump back into the Top 10 in these rankings as well.
The real change in these rankings will be after the result of Indiana and Ohio State along with BYU and Arizona State. Why is the latter so important, well as with the rankings last week all eyes will be on the committee and what they do with BYU.
The Cougars lost to Kansas this past week. Arizona State beat Kansas State and Colorado beat Utah. BYU and Arizona State is a defacto elimination game. Winner goes to the Big 12 Title game. Colorado also controls their own destiny not only to the Big 12 Title game but the playoff as well.
It will be interesting to see where BYU gets ranked and seeded. Last week they were seeded third ahead of Miami. You would expect Miami to go back to being seeded three despite them being off.
But as Kirby Smart said following the Georgia Bulldogs win on Saturday night nobody knows what the committee will actually do. It varies week to week.

Notre Dame seems to be a lock for the College Football playoff. Who would have saw that coming after Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois. Now the real question is can they get passed Army. That is a huge game for the Black Knights are still eligible for the playoff.
Remember the highest group of Five team gets in. Boise State is that team. There will be a narrative to have them in the Top 4. But do we think they deserve a bye over BYU. Kansas is playing better and who is Boise State playing. But that will be the narrative from ESPN.
SMU is the unbeaten team in the ACC. As previously mentioned Miami was seeded fourth last week. The Hurricanes, Mustangs, and Clemson Tigers all control their destiny to the title game.
Then there is the SEC. What a cluster in the standings. So many teams in the running including Texas and Texas A&M, who play each other in a couple of weeks. Georgia is back in the race. Tennessee, Alabama, and Ole Miss are still alive too.
Over in the Big Ten, it feels like Oregon will take on the winner of Ohio State and Indiana. However, the Ducks still have to face their old foe in the Washington Huskies from the Pac-12. But it is a four team race to the playoff with Ohio State, Indiana, Penn State, and Oregon.
So many questions remain unanswered as we head into Week 3 of the Official College Football Playoff Rankings after Week 12 of the season. There is still so much more chaos and movement to come.
