Saquon Barkley is the NFL MVP
If there was a debate going into the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles game about who the NFL MVP was, whether it was Lamar Jackson or Saquon Barkley, Barkley’s performance cemented his name on the trophy.
Despite the MVP trophy being a quarterback award, which it has turned into, the MVP is the Most Valuable Player to his team, not the best Quarterback in the NFL. This is not the Davey O’Brien Award. It is the Most Valuable Player and who has been more valuable than Barkley.
Barkley is proving to be a difference-maker for his team this season, especially in the fourth quarter. With the Eagles up 14-12 and driving into the Red Zone, Barkley broke a 25-yard TD to open the game up and give Philadelphia 21-14. Later on, Jake Elliott hit a 35-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 10-point lead and the win.
But Barkley has been the story of the game and the Eagles' season. As Full Press Media has documented, he continues to make a statement each and every game so his former team, the New York Giants, can notice.

During the season, including his 23 carries, 107 yards, and a touchdown, Barkley has 1499 total rushing yards and 11 touchdowns for the Eagles this season. He also has the highlight reel hurdle along with his career-high 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns (both touchdowns were on 70-yard plus runs) against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday night.
In addition, he had 302 total yards against the Rams. He has 1766 total yards and 13 touchdowns, including his 1499 rushing yards, 267 receiving yards, and two touchdowns receiving.
He has made Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts better. As Hurts said, “He (Barkley) has a special gift and keep on using it.”
Barkley is running behind a great offensive line, and the Eagles have rattled off nine straight wins. He was the missing ingredient to their success. Imagine if he was there last year. Maybe the Eagles don’t tail off at the end.
Now Philadelphia has a complete offense with Saquon Barkley running the football. Barkley is the NFL’s leading rusher, and his counterpart, Derrick Henry of the Ravens, is right behind him. Even though Henry has been great for Baltimore, he has not made the impact Barkley has.
The Eagles continue to utilize Barkley, but no matter the score, Henry sometimes does not see touches in the fourth quarter. From the minute Barkley arrived, he was embraced. It was Barkley's revenge tour season.
In the season's first game, Barkley had three touchdowns against the Packers. He is only getting stronger as the season has gone on. Now, with the game on the line, the guy they signed to a three-year deal worth $37.75 million, $15.833 million a season, is delivering when it matters most.
As Philadelphia Actor and Eagles Fan Michael Blackson said of the Barkley signing, “We (The Philadelphia Eagles) Finally Have a Running Game.”
Man, was he right. The Eagles have a great running game. Not to mention the MVP of the League in Saquon Barkley.
