College Football Odds: Who Will Win the Big Ten
The College Football Season is underway, and Week 1 is here. In addition to the SEC, the Big Ten is one of the conferences everyone is watching. The question is, who will be the Big Ten Champion?
We have seen many changes inside the Big Ten with the additions of Washington, USC, Oregon, and UCLA. They join the Stallworth of the Big 10, including Michigan, the defending National Champion and the favourite to win the conference, the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, the Oregon Ducks are right behind them, and there is a belief that those Ducks can win the conference.
It will be a tough season for the Michigan Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh is off to the NFL. New head coach Sherrone Moore
There are no longer divisions within the conference, as each team will play eight conference games. The two schools with the best record will play in the B10 Championship Game. However, this year's caveat is that the loser of the B10 Championship Game will not miss the College Football Playoff. See, the College Football Playoff is expanding, and there could be multiple teams from this conference in the playoff this season.
We at Full Press Media thought, what better time than now to look at the odds of the next Big Ten Champion?
Previously, we looked at the National Champion odds, and the Georgia Bulldogs are the favorites to win the whole thing at +300.
Going through Week 1 of the College Football season, let's examine the odds of who will play in the Big Ten Championship.
2024-25 B10 Championship Game Odds (via Covers)
Ohio State Buckeyes
+155
Oregon Ducks
+200
Penn State Nittany Lions
+500
Michigan Wolverines
+750
USC Trojans
+2000
Iowa Hawkeyes
+3500
As we look at the odds, some things stand out. The two best teams in the B10 are Ohio State (+155) and Oregon (+200). That is the expected championship in Indianapolis at the end of the season. Usually, the winner of the Michigan-Ohio State game goes to the championship game, and then the winner goes to the playoff, not this year. However, Ryan Day better win that game against Michigan, or he could be out.
The Buckeyes spent $20 million in NIL money and have one of the best rosters in the B10. So Ryan Day has to win the conference and the National Championship. But it will not be easy with Dan Lanning and that Ducks offense. Dillon Gabriel, the QB transfer from Oklahoma, leads this offense.
Expect the Ducks to remain a high-powered offense. Let's see if their defense can keep up. We saw what Oregon did in the final season of the Pac-12. However, Lanning's aggressiveness cost him the title. He might have to be a bit more conservative this season.
They have an early season matchup that could determine a lot. However, most expect a rematch later on.

The rest of the conference is weaker. While Washington is there, nobody expects the Huskies to be in the title game, as Kalen DeBoer is now at Alabama. Does anyone believe in Penn State and James Franklin? The Nittany Lions have not won a big game in a decade. And the year they won the B10, they didn't go to the playoff. Drew Allar is a question for the quarterback position.
What about Michigan? Look, never count out the champs, but this is a brand-new team. They might not have their coach. He is facing a suspension due to the sign-stealing scandal. It may not be easy to use that adversity from a year ago to carry them back to the title game.
Again, 12 teams make the College Football Playoff this season. So, even if a team does not win in the Big Ten Championship Game or does not make the game, that does not mean their hope for a playoff spot is gone.
Expect the Big Ten Champion and a couple of other teams from the Big Ten to be in the playoffs. Expect two teams, but this conference, like the SEC, could get three.
