Who knew College Football would get this exciting as we flipped the calendar into October? There is a reason why we love college football. With October's second AP Top 25 College Football, we see some new arrivals and changes after Saturday.
After this weekend, college football will have a few undefeated teams. These include Texas, Oregon, Penn State, Miami, Army, Navy, Liberty, Indiana, BYU, Pittsburgh, and Iowa State.
How about the Army and Navy remaining undefeated? Things could get interesting in the American conference and the Army-Navy Game the following week. Imagine these two teams playing back-to-back weeks. How about those Pitt Panthers in the ACC, too?
It was rivalry weekend, and several games came down to the wire or went to overtime. Texas handled their business against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry; meanwhile, Oregon held off Ohio State and moved to number two. Penn State is up to three with their close victory over USC in LA.
Texas remains at the top of the standings mainly because of its style points and margin of victory over Oklahoma. It is clear that Texas is the top team in the nation, but they have a big game against Georgia next week.

Outside of the Top Three of Texas, Oregon, and Penn State, Ohio State only dropped two spots. It was a close and competitive game, and the Buckeyes had chances to win. Because it was so close and only a one-point loss for Ohio State, they only dropped a couple of spots.
The rest of the top ten sees (5) Georgia, (6) Miami, who was on a bye, (7) Alabama, (8) LSU, coming off a big win against Ole Miss, (9) Iowa State, and (10) Clemson. And with Clemson, do we believe they are this good in a down ACC? Their next challenge is Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh. They don’t Miami until the title game. That’s if the Hurricanes get there.
Looking at the rest of the AP Top 25, the Army and Navy are ranked 23 and 25, respectively. Arizona State probably should be ranked higher based on its record. You have to wonder if BYU should be higher than they are because they have been tearing up the Big 12.
With the new conference schedules, things should get interesting moving forward.
